VSZ receives authorization from Aneel for full Commercial Operation of its Wind Complex

This Tuesday (10/29), Ventos de São Zacarias received authorization from the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) to fully initiate the commercial operation of its wind complex, located on the border between Pernambuco and Piauí and consisting of 10 wind farms.

In total, 80 wind turbines have been installed, with a generation capacity of 456 MW of renewable energy—enough to supply approximately 1.2 million homes and prevent the annual emission of about 600,000 tons of CO₂ into the atmosphere compared to fossil fuel sources.

“We received the announcement from the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency with immense satisfaction. This represents not only the project’s success but also our team’s commitment, as they worked to ensure our parks meet the highest international standards. This marks the beginning of a very important phase for Ventos de São Zacarias, which fills us with motivation to keep advancing,” stated Felipe Castro, President of Ventos de São Zacarias.

Ventos de São Zacarias and ESG Principles

Ventos de São Zacarias (VSZ) consists of a team dedicated to local communities and the sustainable development of the region. The company strives to conduct its activities aligned with ESG principles—Environmental, Social, and Governance—guided by respect for the environment, society, and business ethics.

International Standards and Commitment to Socio-environmental Excellence

To ensure that the implementation of the wind complex went beyond legal compliance, Ventos de São Zacarias adopted a set of international best practices focused on socio-environmental performance. These efforts included the development and implementation of studies and actions aligned with international standards, such as the Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP), Human Rights Impact Assessment, and Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) consultation with local traditional communities.

Through these initiatives, VSZ aims to build a legacy of contribution to local communities through socio-educational actions and the development of a culture of environmental care. Additionally, it seeks to restore and preserve the Caatinga biome, promoting improvements in soil and water quality, raising awareness of the importance of reforestation and biodiversity, and encouraging farming families to participate in the biodiversity recovery project for their lands.
